We are so fortunate to live in a very Dark sky part of the world . In 2014 the UNESCO associated International Starlight Foundation designated the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores region as a Starlight Tourism Destination and a Starlight Reserve – the first designation of this kind of be awarded in Eastern Canada. Since then astrology enthusiasts from all over the world have flocked to Nova Scotia to take in the dark skies of our province.
The construction of stargazing platform and viewing area has begun. Work will continue over the winter months with the clearing of the land , sawing the materials to build the platforms.
We are offering an experience of camping in 35 ft RV next to the stargazing platform. Take the lounge chairs out and focus on the night sky, watch the meteor showers . Watch for falling stars and make a wish. There is also an option to stay at the Bunkie which a short walk from the platform area . The Farmhouse is listed on Airbnb as well as the Bunkie and RV stay with full details . https://www.airbnb.
We are located in the southwestern end of Nova Scotia in the small rural community of Forest Glen, Yarmouth County . My husband and I recently took over my familys homesstead. This includes a small Bunkie, near the meadow brook, and a family hunting camp. the skys at both of these locations are incredible. We want to be able to share this with others.
September 19th , 2020 we had our first stargazing night with friends, lawn chairs and warm blankets . We watched the Space Station go over, just at dusk. We saw Jupiter , Saturn, and watched Mars rise and a few falling stars. We had a small camp fire tucked in front of the RV . Only thing missing was hot chocolate , next time for sure.
